What is at our core?
LOVE
-
Love
-
Truth
-
Safety
The core of our heart. The core of our mind. The core of our body, nervous system, organs, development.
1 John 4:7,8-“Beloved ones, let us continue loving one another, because love is from God, and everyone who loves has been born from God and knows God. Whoever does not love has not come to know God, because God is love.”
Genesis 1:26-“Then God said: “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness…”
Matthew 22:35-40-“And one of them, versed in the Law, tested him by asking: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” He said to him: “‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. The second, like it, is this: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments the whole Law hangs, and the Prophets.”
I believe that we were designed at the beginning to have all of these together as one thing. Truth and safety were in the sphere of love. There was only unity. Only wholeness. Only connection. Connection to self. Connection to others. Connection to God. Connection to the earth, the land, the animals, the plants. There was to be no division, no separation. What we did and said and thought and believed and how we behaved was all unified within love, truth, and safety. However, I believe over time, that there has been division and separation and fragmentation. Now the world is so disconnected. In so many different ways. We may know the truth in our mind that someone loves us and is good for us, but cannot access any emotions of love in our heart because of being shut down from trauma and neglect. We may have feelings of love toward someone and stay in an abusive relationship, while we know that the truth is that this person is not good for us and not safe for us. We may know the truth and want to tell someone something to protect them or warn them, but we are afraid and feel unsafe that if we say it we will offend them or lose their favor, so we keep quiet.
